Purpose of the Visit

Conducting an educational course on electroneuromyography and ultrasound diagnostics of peripheral nerves for neurologists and neurophysiologists of Kazakhstan, as well as exchanging scientific experience with local specialists.

EMG Training Course

01

As part of the educational program, a two-day course on clinical electroneuromyography was held. Participants mastered standard research algorithms, analyzed typical and atypical patterns in polyneuropathies, radiculopathies, and tunnel syndromes. Special attention was given to interpreting results in complex clinical cases.

Peripheral Nerve Ultrasound Masterclass

02

A practical masterclass on peripheral nerve ultrasound was conducted. Attendees practiced visualizing nerve trunks of the upper and lower extremities, learned to assess the echostructure of nerves, measure cross-sectional area, and identify signs of compression and inflammatory damage.

Clinical Case Review

03

During the training, more than 15 clinical cases from Kazakhstani colleagues' practice were reviewed. Topics included differential diagnosis of demyelinating and axonal neuropathies, algorithms for identifying dysimmune forms of nerve damage, and approaches to treatment and dynamic monitoring.

Lecture on Hereditary Neuropathies

04

A lecture was delivered on modern approaches to diagnosing hereditary Charcot-Marie-Tooth neuropathies. Genetic aspects, clinical phenotypes, neurophysiological patterns, and principles of genetic counseling were covered. Kazakhstani colleagues showed keen interest in the topic due to the high prevalence of hereditary forms in the region.

Scientific Cooperation

05

Following the visit, agreements were reached on joint scientific projects. A joint study on the prevalence of neuromuscular pathology in the region is planned, along with the development of educational materials in Russian for Central Asian specialists.

  • joint publications on neurophysiological diagnostics
  • creation of an educational platform for CIS neurophysiologists
  • organization of regular educational visits

Conclusion

The educational visit to Almaty confirmed the high interest of Kazakhstani specialists in modern methods of neurophysiological diagnostics. The course and masterclass received high marks from participants. The professional connections established open prospects for long-term cooperation and development of neurophysiological services in the region.
